Frequently Asked Questions
-
Most sessions can be booked up to 6 months in advance. If your preferred date is further away, feel free to reach out and I'll let you know when my calendar opens.
For spring (late March–early April) and autumn (mid-November–early December), I recommend booking at least 2 months in advance, as these are the busiest seasons and availability can become limited.
-
Tokyo weather can change quickly, so it's often best to make a final decision the day before or even on the day of the session.
Light to moderate rain usually isn't a problem and can actually create beautiful photos with reflections, umbrellas, and a unique atmosphere. In most cases, we'll simply pick up a transparent umbrella from a nearby convenience store and make it part of the session.
If the weather is severe enough to make the session uncomfortable or impossible, we'll discuss rescheduling to another available date whenever possible.
-
If you're unfamiliar with Tokyo or the meeting location, I recommend planning to arrive 10–15 minutes early and allowing extra time for travel.
If you're running late, please let me know as soon as possible. I'll always do my best to make the most of the remaining time, but the session will still end at the originally scheduled time, as I may have other bookings or commitments afterward.
Please keep in mind that a shorter session may affect the variety and number of photos in your final gallery, simply because we have less time available for different locations, moments, and poses.
-
I understand that plans can change, especially when traveling.
Rescheduling is possible if my availability allows. Because many of my clients visit Japan for a limited time, alternative dates may sometimes be limited, so I recommend contacting me as soon as possible if your plans change.
-
Yes. Proposal sessions include proposal planning and coordination (+¥10,000 on top of the selected package).
Before the session, we'll discuss the location, timing, positioning, and overall plan in detail so everything runs as smoothly as possible.
From my experience, the most reliable approach is often for me to be nearby as a photographer or tourist rather than completely hidden. This allows me to be ready at the right moment and capture the proposal from the best possible angle.
A common option is for you to ask me to take a photo of the two of you. Since I already have my camera ready, I can immediately start photographing the proposal as it happens.
Every proposal and location is different, so we'll discuss the details together and create a plan that works best for you. I'm also always happy to hear your ideas and suggestions.
-
The most important thing is to coordinate rather than match. Choose colors that complement each other and fit the location.
For nature locations, simple outfits in solid colors usually work best, as they don't compete with the scenery texture. Neutral tones, earth colors, beige, cream, and light browns photograph beautifully, while a bold accent color can also work well.
For evening sessions, lighter colors are often a great choice because they reflect available light and stand out nicely against Tokyo's city lights and lanterns. If you want to pop some color - yellow and red look great.
I generally recommend avoiding large logos, busy patterns, and very bright neon colors, as they can be distracting in photos.
If we're photographing at a temple or shrine, it's also worth considering clothing that is respectful of the location. If you're unsure what to wear, I'm always happy to help with outfit suggestions before the session.
-
Yes. Once I understand the type of photos you're looking for – whether that's nature, city streets, traditional Tokyo, neon lights, daytime, or evening photography – I can suggest locations that fit your vision.
I'll also share examples from previous sessions to help you decide what style and atmosphere you like most.
If you already have a location in mind, I'm always happy to discuss it. I enjoy discovering new places and am open to shooting somewhere I haven't photographed before.
-
Yes. While most of my sessions take place in central Tokyo, I also regularly photograph in Hakone and Kawaguchiko and offer dedicated packages for those locations.
I'm also open to other areas such as Yokohama, Kanagawa, and beyond. Travel outside my standard service area is quoted separately, as it requires additional travel time and planning.
-
Absolutely. Most people aren't used to being in front of a camera, and it's completely normal to feel a little nervous or wonder what to do.
Before the session, I'll explain how everything works so you know what to expect. During the shoot, I'll guide you with simple prompts and suggestions, so you never have to worry about how to pose or what to do next.
My goal is to create natural interactions and genuine moments that feel comfortable and authentic to you. Rather than asking you to perform for the camera, I'll help create situations where real expressions and connections can naturally happen.
I'll also pay attention to details throughout the session and make small adjustments when needed, so you can focus on enjoying the experience while I focus on capturing it.
-
Each package includes a minimum number of edited photos, which is listed in the package description. For example, a 1-hour session includes a minimum of 60 edited photos.
During a session, I typically take around three times more photos than are ultimately delivered. This allows me to capture a variety of moments, expressions, and interactions throughout the shoot.
After the session, I carefully review all images and remove photos that are out of focus, have closed eyes, awkward expressions, test shots, or duplicate moments. From there, I select the strongest images that best tell the story of your session. My approach is quality over quantity. Rather than delivering several nearly identical photos, I focus on providing a varied gallery with different moments, expressions, angles, and compositions.
-
My standard delivery time is up to 7 days after the session.
During busy seasons, delivery may take up to 14 days, as I spend more time shooting and editing multiple sessions. All galleries are edited and delivered in the order they were photographed.
-
I recommend bringing as little as possible and keeping your hands free during the session.
I don't mind helping with smaller items when possible, but I also need freedom of movement to photograph and guide the session. If you're traveling with luggage, shopping bags, or other bulky items, I highly recommend using one of the coin lockers available at many train stations before the shoot.
Strollers, of course, are completely fine for family sessions.
-
Of course. While I'll guide you throughout the session, I'm always happy to incorporate your ideas.
If you have inspiration photos, Pinterest references, or specific shots you'd love to recreate, feel free to send them before the session. This helps me plan ahead and think about the best locations and compositions to bring those ideas to life.
-
No, I do not provide RAW files.
The final photographs are a combination of the images I capture, the selection process, and my editing style. RAW files are unfinished files that require specialized software and are not intended as the final product.
If you have a specific concern or request, I'm always happy to discuss it and find the best solution.
-
At the moment, I specialize exclusively in photography and do not offer video services.
-
As a photographer, I occasionally use selected images from sessions in my portfolio, website, social media, or sample galleries to showcase my work to future clients.
I never share personal information, names, or details about my clients. The focus is always on the photography itself.
For children and family sessions, I'm especially mindful of privacy and am always happy to respect a parent's preference regarding image sharing.
-
All delivered photos are professionally edited for color, lighting, contrast, and overall consistency with my style.
I also don't mind removing temporary distractions such as small blemishes, scratches, or other minor imperfections that are not normally part of your appearance.
However, I do not offer extensive Photoshop retouching or alter natural physical features such as body shape, facial structure, or other permanent characteristics.
My goal is to create natural, flattering photographs that still look like you.
During the session, I encourage clients to communicate openly if there are angles, poses, or concerns they'd like me to be aware of. Together, we can create images that feel authentic, comfortable, and true to who you are.
-
Absolutely. Pets are family too, and I'm always happy to include them in your session. Whether it's a couple shoot, family session, or proposal.
